Abstract

The article examines the results of studies on the influence of fats of various origins on the sexual behavior of male rats. Sexual disorders are widespread in the world and occur in every fourth person. In Ukraine about 50-60 thousand men address professionals with sexual and andrological problems annually. Today, about 80% of men recognize that problems in sexual sphere seriously affect the quality of life. In modern world, there are many factors that negatively affect the male reproductive system. The problems which violate reproductive health are the following: stress, alcohol consumption, smoking, chronic diseases, etc. Researchers have proved the important role of nutrition in the functioning of the reproductive system. It is important to change the habitual diet, the composition and amount of some ingredients, which may affect the length of the sexual activity. It is known that there are products that may even weaken or, conversely, enhance the sexual function (the so-called "aphrodisiacs"). An important provocative factor in the development of reproductive disorders is the excessive intake of fats with food. It is known that obesity leads to erectile dysfunction, which, in turn, can lead to male infertility. Severer consequences for reproductive ability of men arise with obesity on the background of type 2 diabetes. Products used in modern cooking, especially fast food, are characterized by increased fat content. Therefore, the consumption of fat and oil has grown significantly, without taking into account their fatty acid composition. It is known that such unsaturated fatty acids as linoleic and linolenic, are not synthesized in the human body and get into it only with food, so they are called irreplaceable. However, they play an important role: in particular, they form part of the biomembrane, and can also be converted into biologically active compounds that have the properties of regulators of physiological processes. None of the dietary fats fully meet physiological needs of humans and their fatty acid composition is far from the ideal formula of fatty foods. In turn, it is known that the consumption of excessive amounts of fat causes obesity, which often leads to the development of atherosclerosis, metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes, and also violates the balance of sex hormones. The ever-increasing consumption of fat and oil in the world and the integration of Ukraine into the world economy stimulate scientific and experimental studies of fat and oil effect on the reproductive state of human body. At present, the issue of the influence of chronic consumption of edible vegetable oils of different species (natural, hydrogenated, refined) and origin (palm or sunflower) on the reproductive function of men, in particular sexual behavior, remains unclear. Taking into account the heterogeneity of the human population, and the limited ability to study sexual intercourse from the point of view of ethical issues, it is more appropriate to explore these issues in the experiment on rats.

Keywords: indicators of sexual behavior, palm oil, refined sunflower oil, margarine
