The article considers the species composition of the Dothideomycetes and its structural characteristics in conditions of steppe ecosystems of the steppe zone of Ukraine. The purpose of the article was to establish the taxonomic diversity of Dothideomycetes in steppe ecosystems of the steppe zone of Ukraine. Material and methods. We used the original mycological collecting carried out within the mycological survey of this territory during 2008-2019, as well as the materials of the herbarium of the Institute of Botany named after M. Kholodny National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (KW). Herbarium collection and identification of the samples were performed in accordance with the generally accepted methods of cameral processing of xylotrophic, herbotrophic and coprothrophic micromycetes. To establish the taxonomic affiliation of species, the method of light microscopy was applied. Results and discussion. The obtained results showed a diversity of ascolocular fungi (Dothideomycetes) species in the steppe ecosystems of the steppe zone of Ukraine, which includes 123 species from 38 genera 19 families 6 orders and groups of taxa of Incertae sedis of the subclasses Dothideomycetidae and Pleosporomycetidae. The characteristic features of the taxonomic structure of the investigated mycobiota are the predominance of representatives of the order of Pleosporales, the families Pleosporaceae and Leptosphaeriaceae, the genera Leptosphaeria and Pleospora. We marked the dominance of saprotrophic and hemibiotrophic species in steppe ecosystems. Widespread species are Leptosphaeria doliolum (Pers.) Ces. & De Not., L. kalmusii Niessl ex Sacc., L. helminthospora Ces. & De Not., Pleospora herbarum (Pers.) Rabenh., Lophiostoma caulium (Fr.) Ces. & De Not., Ophiobolus acuminatus (Sowerby) Duby. Conclusion. Species complexes of Dothideomycetes of different types of steppe communities are characterized by species originality. A comparasion of the complexes of fungi of different types of steppe communities indicated their significant difference at the species level. Common species of Dothideomycetes weren’t detected in a number of steppe communities.
