The article presents the analysis of qualification requirements established by international sports federations for the athletes to win Olympic licenses for participation in the Games of the XXII Olympiad 2020 in Tokyo. The relevance of the work is due to the need to modernize the fundamentals of managing competitive activity in martial arts, taking into account the peculiarities of recruiting the participants of the Olympics Games from 1992 to today. The purpose of the study was to analyze the existing qualification requirements established by international sports federations for athletes to obtain Olympic licenses for participation in the Games of the XXII Olympiad 2020 in Tokyo (on example of martial arts). Material and methods. Theoretical analysis, synthesis of literature and the Internet have revealed trends in the development of modern Olympic martial arts. The documentary method was used to analyze the existing qualification requirements established by the relevant international sports federations for the athletes to obtain Olympic licenses for participation in the Games of the XXII Olympiad 2020 in Tokyo in fencing, freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling, judo, taekwondo, boxing and karate. Conclusion. Qualification requirements for athletes to obtain Olympic licenses in martial arts are established by the relevant international sports federations and made public one or two years before the next Olympics. Based on these requirements, not only a plan for training an athlete or team for the Olympic cycle is formed, but also a system for selecting athletes for the national team of the country. Peculiarities of recruiting the participants of the Games of the XXXII Olympiad 2020 in Tokyo in modern martial arts are basically similar and consist in complicated system of selection; different formulas to quota allocation between NOCs, continents (or special zones), events and sportsmen; possibility to confirm or deny the obtained qualification quota by NOC’s decision; opportunity to get Wild card by decision of Tripartite Commission; extension or quantity reduction of weight categories (appearance of Olympic categories which are different from standard). The main differences between qualification requirements are the duration of the Olympic selection (from three months to two years), the ownership of the license won (registered or for the NOCs), the number of types of competitions and the forms of offset in them (individual, team or mixed; the availability of various types of ratings (world, continental, Olympic, personal, team).
