Abstract

This work presents studies on the evaluation of the effectiveness of using Carvelis for the complex treatment of patients with stable angina pectoris. Material and methods. 70 patients aged from 55 to 65 years were selected on the basis of the Poltava clinical cardiologic dispensary. They had a confirmed stable angina pectoris without history of myocardial infarction. The half of them took carvelis 30 drops 3 times a day, after dissolving the drops in a small amount of liquid, for 1 month, three courses at intervals of three months for 1 year. It consists of: extract from a mixture of leaves, flowers and hawthorn fruit (Srataeg folii cum flore, fructus extractum); extract of herb grass (Leonuri herbae extractum); extract of Melissa leaves (Melissae herbae extractum); Valerian root extract (Valerianae radix extractum). Results and discussion. According to literary sources, hawthorn fruit has antioxidant properties, lowering cholesterol, relaxing spasmic vessels, increasing myocardial sensitivity to cardiac glycosides, leading to normal blood coagulation, lowering blood pressure, inhibiting nerve stimulation, normalizing heart rate, perfectly toning and strengthening the body. Hawthorn preparations are low toxic, in the body do not cumulate. The studies proved that grass Hermit (Leonurus) stabilizes the heart rhythm and strengthens the myocardium reveals antispasmodic and anticonvulsant effect, lowers blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, pyruvic and lactic acids stabilize protein metabolism and removes excess fat. Melissa has antispasmodic, analgesic, hypotensive, sedative, diuretic, bactericidal effect, slows the respiratory rate, heart rate deceleration assists. Valerianum calming agents acting on the central nervous system, improves the cardiovascular system, lower blood pressure, exhibit antispasmodic effect. According to the results of the observation in the experimental group, whose representatives in addition to the standard treatment regimen (including antianginal, hypolipidemic and antiplatelet agents) took carvellis (30 drops 3 times a day, pre-dissolving drops in a small amount of fluid) 1 month, three courses at intervals in three months throughout the year. The control group did not take the indicated preparation. As a result, the general condition of all representatives of the experimental group significantly improved, the attacks were less frequent and with greater physical activity than before; their intensity was smaller, and the duration shorter. In 18 out of 35 patients, the functional class of angina decreased by one mark. All the symptoms decreased in 17 out of 35, the number of attacks and the need for short-acting nitrates declined; the distance that patients could overcome was longer on 100-150 m; dyspnea has decreased. In the lipid spectrum of blood, the level of total cholesterol decreased by 26-47% from the initial due to low density lipoprotein and triglycerides. According to the results of the coagulogram, no patients were diagnosed with pathological changes. In the control group, 8 out of 35 reported a slight improvement in the general condition, 23 patients remained unchanged, and 4 patients marked deterioration in the form of increased complications of compression pain in the bosom, increased shortness of breath during physical activity. The decrease in total cholesterol levels was not more than 12% in the lipid spectrum of blood. Conclusion. According to the results of coagulogram, 6 patients showed an increase in the stenting capacity of the blood. The indicated results proved the effectiveness and appropriateness of the appointment of carvellis for the complex treatment of stable angina, as it had good antianginal, hypolipidemic and sedative effects, potentiated the therapeutic effect of most cardiologic drugs, which positively affected the health of patients.
