The Place of Clinical Pharmacology in Modern Medicine

Meretskіі V., Meretska I.
Abstract

The article deals with the role of clinical pharmacology in the rational use of medicinal products at various stages of the provision of medical care. Clinical pharmacology is a science that studies the interaction of drugs with the body of a healthy and sick person, develops the principles and methods of studying the effects of pharmacological drugs in clinical conditions and is the scientific basis of pharmacotherapy. Deepening knowledge of pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of the main groups of drugs, studying indications and contraindications to the use of drugs, compiling scientifically based combinations of drugs, determining the possible influence of genetic factors on the pharmacological response will allow the doctor to provide an individualized approach to choosing drug therapy. Detection of adversary actions, determination of their type and degree of severity, prediction of consequences also require knowledge of clinical pharmacology. A large number of generic drugs, a significant difference in the cost of drugs with one international name, information materials of dubious quality sometimes mislead doctors when choosing a particular drug. The post of a doctor-clinical pharmacologist is considered to be desirable in order to control the validity, efficiency, safety and economic feasibility of pharmacotherapy, compliance with protocols (standards) of treatment, as well as the organization and conduct of on-the-job training of doctors in clinical pharmacology. Study of the main questions of general and special clinical pharmacology on the basis of modern achievements in the field of fundamental and clinical medicine, interaction of drugs, causal analysis of the occurrence of adverse reactions, financial monitoring of the carried out pharmacotherapy will increase the efficiency and safety of using drugs by the patients.
