Comparative Evaluation of Microcrystallization Indices of Oral Fluid Indifferent Complexes of Postoperative Treatment in Patients with Chronic Odontogenic Sinusitis of Maxillary Sinus

Pohodenko-Chudakva I. O., Surin A. V.
Abstract

At the moment, oral fluid is the best option from all biological fluids of the body for the study since its preparation is not associated with invasive manipulations and does not require specially equipped facilities, expensive equipment and specially trained stuff. If necessary, it can be used several times. In the last decade the number of examinations in microcrystallization of biological fluids is significantly increased including in oral fluid. There are works that indicate the possibility of correction of these indices. There are also studies proving the positive effect of reflexotherapy on this indicator. The purpose of the work is to carry out a comparative assessment of the microcrystallization indices of oral fluid in patients with chronic odontogenic sinusitis of the maxillary sinus with a standard complex of postoperative treatment and rehabilitation measures and when used as part of the rehabilitation complex of electroacupuncture. Material and methods. 40 patients aged 18-50 years with chronic odontogenic sinusitis of the maxillary sinus were observed. Group 1 (20 persons) included patients who had standard treatment after the operation. Group 2 (20 patients) comprised electroacupuncture in the treatment. A group of 20 healthy individuals made up group 3. Rate of microcrystallization of oral fluid was determined in accordance with the method described by I. O. Pohodenko-Chudakova et al. (2011). Results and discussion. The rate of microcrystallization of oral fluid in patients of group 1 was 2.42 (1.88-3.00) and group 2 it was 2.67 (1.38-2.55). On the 12th day after surgery the rate of microcrystallization of oral fluid in group 1 decreased to 2.30 (1.88-2.75). At the same time it should be emphasized that these changes were not directional (χ2=3.19; p<0.36). In the same period of follow-up in patients of group 2, a decrease in the studied index to values of 1.67 (1.42-2.17) was observed and this dynamics was directional (χ2=22.4; p<0.00). When comparing the results of the 4th study and the initial values (before the operation), a significant difference was found (T1-4=12.5; p=0.00). Conclusions. The presented results of comparative assessment of the dynamics of microcrystallization of oral fluid in patients with chronic odontogenic sinusitis of the maxillary sinus in various complexes of postoperative treatment strongly support the use of patients in this category in the postoperative rehabilitation of electroacupuncture. The results prove the informative and diagnostic effectiveness of the indices of microcrystallization of oral fluid which can be successfully used in patients with chronic odontogenic sinusitis of the maxillary sinus. Moreover, they are the basis for wider implementation in everyday clinical practice of electroreflexotherapy for specified category of patients.
